Silverlight more than a name?

By now you must have read this somewhere else, and as some of you may know already, I’m not a big fan of Silverlight (FKA WPF/e), that’s why I didn’t post about this earlier. But this morning when I was reading my feeds I found a very interesting post from Drew Marsh. He states that something big is going to be announced at MIX07, we knew that already, but with the big focus centering on Silverlight it is possible that the big announcement is related to Silverlight and he points out this blog entry from Ashish Shetty, saying:

The .NET connection

Yes, Silverlight extends the reach of the CLR and .NET Framework to other platforms like the Mac! Details coming soon.

If this is in fact true, it means that we could see .NET (from Microsoft, not Mono) running on Mac very soon! This is what I call Great News! Now let’s wait and see what MIX07 brings us! 😀

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the logo looks awesome! Maybe I’ll start loving Silverlight really soon! 😀

Bruno, you should learn to love silverlight – it will be hugely disruptive technology – may even finally bring CLR to other platforms as you say.
